Hey there, I'm Lisa!

It’s not absolutely necessary to include props in your Senior Photo Session, but they can be alot of fun and help to show off your personality and interests. Your senior photos are all about capturing and celebrating the person you are. Props can help you do that!

Hats & Sun Glasses

Hats and sunglasses are some of my favorite props and you’ll never regret bringing at least one of each to your photo session!

Paige brought her sunglasses and a hat to her session and the looked great with several of her outfits. Austin wore his cowboy hat which went so well with his flannel and boots at the lake.

Wraps & Jackets

With each outfit you choose, consider whether a wrap, jackets, sweater etc… could be added. These items are a great way to change up an outfit and vary your look. Like all props, they can give your hands something to do or a place to rest. Adding these “props” will result in more variety in your poses.

Hobby References

Portraits are all about telling the story of you, and including props in your senior photos that show your hobbies and interests are a great way to personalize your images.

Let your photographer know prior to your Photoshoot, what items you plan to bring with you. This will allow him or her time to plan creative ways to use these items. Sometimes we even do a little research to gather creative inspiration.

A Musical Instrument

Much like your hobbies, a musical talent is something special you might want to highlight in your photos. Another great prop to include in your senior pictures would be an instrument that you play. This can not only show your personality and who you are, but it can also help you relax so that you look and feel natural in your photos.

Timmy picked up a guitar and learned to play during the Covid-19 pandemic. Photos with him playing his guitar were some of my favorites from his senior photo session.

Sporting Equipment

If you play a sport or participate in an activity or club, consider including some equipment. For example, a ball and glove or ballet shoes make wonderful props for senior pictures!

A team Jersey or even a trophy might be something to help highlight your love of a sport. You may also include some images at the location where you play or perform your activity.

Some examples of Senior photos using Sporting equipment as props; Molly in her Softball jersey, posed with her bat. Austin in full hockey gear, and Bobby in his soccer jersey peering through the goal net.
Sports are a huge part in your high school career. It makes sense to create some photos capturing this part of your life.

Your Vehicle can be a prop in your senior pictures

If you have a car or truck you love and are proud of, you might want to include it in your photo session. Or maybe there is a dream vehicle you’d like to own some day. Borrow or rent one! Vehicles offer so may possibilities for creative imagery.

Austin was proud of his truck so we parked it at a lake for some great images. We felt like his flannel shirt and western hat went really well with these images and captured his personality so well.

Feature your Pet

If you have a furry (or not so furry!) friend you adore, we can fit them into your photo session. We’ll just need to plan a pet-friendly location to accommodate them.

For the comfort and the convenience of everyone involved, it’s a good idea to have a friend or relative bring your pet to your session just in time for their photos and then take them home as soon we finish with them.

Highlight your Career Plans

What are your plans after high school? If there’s a particular career you’ll be pursuing or you’ve been accepted to a college you’re really excited about, we can include items that represent your goals! A “Tool of the Trade” for your future job, or a shirt with the logo of the school you’ll attend, would be a great prop to include in your senior photos. What a great way to capture your hopes and dreams for the future!

Austin loves motorcycles – especially Harley Davidsons. He borrowed his uncle’s Harley as a prop for his senior photo session. Today he’s a mechanic working on Harleys.
