A Mom with a Passion for Photography

I’m a Mom, a grandma and for almost 30 years, I was an HR Professional. That was fun for a while, and it paid the bills, but after my kids were off on their own I found myself spending more and more time on a hobby that I had always loved… photography.

I dug deeper into lighting and posing and found myself taking classes a my community college and practicing my art 24/7. My husband quickly grew tired of being my muse. 😂 Fortunately I have 4 kids and 6 grandchildren, and my friends were happy to model for me and lend me their children to help hone my skills. Still, I could not get enough.

Before I knew it, a dream was growing. I wanted to do this ALL the time. I loved creating beautiful images that families would treasure for a lifetime. It was so rewarding to show teens and families how beautiful they were with the help of my camera and lens. My biggest desire was to help them feel great about themselves and their families.

Finding my Niche

Over time, I found that Families and Teens were my favorite subjects to photograph. I realized that I wanted to capture those things that matter most to Moms. Because as a mom myself, I know how it is. Life moves at a wild pace, and our little ones keep changing and growing until one day we’re staring at a young adult ready to take off on their own! And we’re standing there wondering what the heck just happened?!

Photography is one of the few ways we can hold onto all those moments and memories we’re going to want to bring back.

Photography is also a way of reinforcing that sense of belonging and confidence in our children. When they see those photos on your wall, or look through that book on your coffee table, they’re reminded that they’re a part of something bigger than themselves. That they matter …ALOT!

A defining moment for me was the time my girlfriend told me that her daughter’s senior photos helped her see herself in a new light. She told her Mom that she had never considered herself pretty until she saw her senior photos. WHAT?! How was that possible?! That’s just way too long for a young girl to go in life without seeing her own beauty.

A Profession that I LOVE

So that’s why I’m here today. And that’s why I LOVE what I do! It isn’t just a job. It’s a passion. When I’m sitting behind my computer culling through images of your high school senior or family photo session, you can bet I am smiling until my face hurts.

It’s ridiculous, but I can’t help it! Your beautiful faces make me smile. Your laughter, the way you light up in each other’s presence, your fun personalities and quirks…this all makes me smile. When I can bring that all out in a photograph, I’ve done my job! I live to hear parents say, “You really captured their personality!”
