Hey there, I'm Lisa!

Searching for Sunflowers

When it came her senior pictures, Molly knew exactly what she wanted; First and foremost was sunflower photos! It was also important to include her dogs, and finally she wanted some shots of her in her softball jersey.

So while Molly set about finding the perfect senior picture outfits, I went to work locating a sunflower field. Though sunflower photos are a popular request, it was a little early in the season for them which made my search more difficult than I first thought it would be.

Some Facebook networking pointed me to the west shore. I took an afternoon to check them out and reported back to Molly and her mom, Julie. One of the fields was close to a trendy shopping center with upscale store fronts that I knew would add variety to her session. Molly and Julie agreed that this was our spot!

Senior Photo Session One: The Sunflower Field & Shopfronts

Fast forward to “game day”. Molly had her hair and makeup done at the salon and was looking amazing in her white dress. The weather report, on the other hand, was not exactly ideal for a senior photos session.

As we got on the road the raindrops started pounding the roof of thee car and when we crossed the river, the dark clouds unleashed their full fury on Julie’s little SUV. We joked and laughed nervously and though I didn’t dare say it out loud, I was thinking, “There is NO way this is going to work out for us today!”

It seemed like a literal miracle that as we neared our sunflower field the sky cleared, leaving just enough cloud cover to provide perfectly diffused light. We were all giddy with relief!

After capturing some super-cute photos in the sunflower field, Molly went for a change of outfits. Next, we had alot of fun capturing her sassy self in front of the storefronts. The looks and colors she chose for her senior pictures coordinated perfectly with the shop fronts. Her layers lent themselves beautifully to her moving shots. We did some strut-walks and tried not to disturb the peace with our whooping and laughing but we were having a good time! We decided some of the window signage may have been put there just for her…

Senior Photo Session Two: Palmyra High School/Softball Field

The following week we met up at Palmyra High School in the early evening. Thankfully, there was no weather drama this time. Molly and Julie had their two sweet pups in tow. Julie was there to manage both dogs when they weren’t in the photos. Which brings to mind this tip: If you’re thinking about including pets in your senior pictures, be sure to bring a “pet handler” who can watch them for you or even take them home after those shots are finished.

We spent a little time with each fur-baby then got in a few of Molly with both of them. Look at all that puppy love! My favorite is the one that looks like Roxy and Molly are having a good laugh together. It really was a great idea to include her dogs in her senior photo session. When she goes off to school in the fall, I’m sure she’ll be missing them, but it’ll be wonderful to have some sweet shots to post in her dorm room.

Photos with her dogs were really important to Molly.

After capturing Molly with Roxy and Wilson, we moved on to her home softball field to capture Molly’s athletic side. We captured her in her softball jersey (Go Cougars!) in the dugout and on her home team field.

I love the variety we got with Molly by doing sessions in 2 different locations and that we were able to capture the things that are most important to her at this point in her life!

As I write this, Molly is finishing up her freshman year of college in sunny Florida, where she gets lots of Disney visits in when she isn’t studying. I’m so excited to see where you go and what you do Molly! Keep on Rockin’ it!
